Adaptive Fitness
Adaptive fitness is all about customizing exercise routines to meet the unique needs and abilities of all individuals, regardless of their physical condition, limitations, or age.
At Team Survivor, we believe that the physical and mental benefits of exercise should be accessible to everyone. We are passionate about bringing adaptive fitness solutions to our members, whether you’re in cancer treatment, recovering from treatment, processing trauma, or managing any other types of limitations. We've been working hard to ensure that you're bound to find something that's right for you.
Many of our partners routinely integrate modifications into classes that are open to the general public. However, members who would like to focus on exploring new ways of adapting to their abilities or who wish to join classes specifically for cancer survivors may be especially interested in the offerings listed below.
- REIZ Adaptive Fitness is a non-profit specializing in health and wellness for those with a broad range of limitations and disabilities. The REIZ Team Survivor Program is just for members, designed and led by founder Mziya Weber who also serves on our Board of Directors. These gym workouts are all small group sessions of 2-4 members, enabling individualized attention and modifications.
- Wonder Walks are also specifically for Team Survivor members, led by fellow member and movement therapist Katie Phillips. The activities vary from more rigorous hikes to light walking, and some take place on wheelchair accessible trails.
- All of Moving Beyond Cancer Collaborative's programs are intended for those whose lives have been impacted by cancer. Among other classes, they offer chair yoga, online pilates and qigong, as well as an in-person yoga class just for patients and survivors that focuses on stimulating the immune system.
- Art Beat offers a weekly "Touched By Cancer" yoga class, specifically designed for cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers.
